10. A whole chicken, chopped into pieces.
11. Four ounces of fresh milk.
12. A medium sized egg, whisked slightly.
13. 2/3rd of a tablespoon of Rumford baking powder.
14. Two medium ribs of pascal celery (regular celery).
Preparation:
1. Take a large bowl and add in two ounces of all purpose flour, a teaspoon of table salt and half a teaspoon of ground black pepper. Mix the ingredients well and then add in the chicken pieces. Mix the chicken well into the flour mixture. Take a large frying pan and heat the safflower oil in it. Place the chicken pieces in the pan and brown it all over under a medium flame. Put the browned chicken pieces in a dish and leave it aside.
2. Add the slices of carrot, one teaspoon of dried rosemary, onion slices and celery ribs into a slow cooker. Add the browned chicken pieces into the slow cooker and then add in four ounces of fresh chicken stock over the browned chicken pieces. Add in the remaining twelve ounces of chicken stock and cook under a high setting for about five hours. Stir in all of the frozen green peas.
3 We shall now prepare the dumplings. Take a large bowl and add in the left over four ounces of all purpose flour along with the remaining table salt, dried rosemary and Rumford baking powder. In a separate dish, mix together the fresh milk and the whisked egg. Add this mix into the big bowl and stir lightly so that the flour forms lumps. Now take spoonfuls of this mixture and drop it into the slow cooker. Let the chicken and dumplings continue to cook for another half an hour or till it is done.
Your crock pot chicken and dumplings is ready.
